Location: North Western Massachusetts | I am getting back into shooting and reloading. I have have been watching the sales over the last few years and have accumulated 1000+ Remmington Game Load shells I will eventualy reload If they are any good. They have a 6 star crimp and a silver metal base. Are they a decent reloadable hull??? I will not be shooting any competition only for fun.

The hulls reload exactly like the STS or Premier hulls do and last very well for 7 or 8 reloads on average.

real easy for the wad to hang up on the crimp in the wad guide.
I much prefer the 8 fold game loads, and will usually open
a new box to check which type they are before buying a bunch of em.

Location: NW, CT | I like them as well, and I usually use a Win wad or clone as they seem to go in much smoother. WAASL for 7/8 and 1oz.
I no longer load 1 1/8oz.
Thankfully the 6 pt. crimp does not seem to have trouble on my machine.
I only load them around 2-3 times as they are plentiful and free!

Location: 'Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again.' | Don't doubt that UltraMag has had problems with wad guide hang up, but I've loaded many thousand's of Remy GL's (all 6-point BTW) on a MEC Grabber using a variety of wads and have never had even one hang up.

The guys at the club say the 6 point crimps are not a problem and don't make any changes on the machine. They even leave in the 8 point crimp starter. I don't understand how that works but apparently it does.

Location: Issaquah, WA | I reload the black Remingtons all the time for my trap loads - I use the green ones for skeet. They load great and I can usually get 8 - 10 reloads out of them.
About crimp starters - the 8 point starter will often work on 6 point hulls but not always. Every once in a while a 6 point hull will get mixed in with the 8 point ones I usually reload and it does crimp but the crimp is frequently mungled up a bit. I shoot them but then toss 'em because I like my crimps as close to what comes from the factory as possible. If I'm loading 6 point hulls I change the crimp starter - its about a 15 second process on my press (MEC 9000) and that includes rummaging in my box of press parts for it.

Is it a tappered hull???
Can I use it in a recipe that calls for AA's???
Some have a silver base some has a brass color.
I will be using
Fiocchi primers
Rex 1 powder
clay buster wads
and 1 oz #8 shot.

The black Remington promo hull is the same hull as the green ones and the Gun Clubs. All are the Unibody SP hull, the only difference is the color. As with all Remington promo hulls, some have 6 petal crimps and some have 8 petal crimps.
All these hulls are one piece and are tapered wall hulls, and all reload exactly like the STS or Nitro 27 hulls. When reloading them, simply use Remington STS data.
As to using AA data, it is usually very close, and probably will work in most cases. However the correct data is the STS data, which is what should be used.
